If you’re interested in other questions to ask your wedding planner head over to Here Comes the Guide, they have a great list.
- How many weddings do you take a year?
This answer can vary depending on the size of the company you are consulting with. But you’re looking for your potential planner to have a cut off number. If they don’t be weary. You don’t want a planner that takes everyone. You want someone who knows the kinds of client they want to work with and are also choosey. If you’re looking for a full service planner, you want this number to be pretty low so you know you will get the attention your wedding needs from start to finish. Another questions to ask is to make sure the planner you want will actually handle your wedding and not handing your wedding off to another coordinator or planner.
- What is the average budget of your weddings?
You want to know what types of budgets your planner has worked with before. This is very important because many planners already have a network of vendors that they like to use and work well with. This is a great thing for you! But if they are not used to working with your budget and may be too expensive this may cause complications.
- Can you provide reviews?
Any experienced planner will have plenty of reviews to provide you. If they can’t provide you with reviews this can be a major red flag. The great thing about today is that you can see lots of reviews for planners on-line on WeddingWire.com or TheKnot.Com.
- Do you work with a Team?
On your wedding day you want to know that you will have the attention you need. If your planner doesn’t have a whole staff that’s ok, but you want them to at least have 1 other person with them for you and your groom. If your wedding is over 150 people you want your planner to have a team. Also Ask them how often they work with these team members and what experience they have.
- How do you communicate with your clients?
This is a very important question. The answer you are looking for here is they want to know what is the best way to communicate with you. If it’s by email, that’s great, if you want to do phone calls that’s great! I have brides who hate to be on the phone. They are on the phone all day at work and the last thing they want Is to talk at night so we do a lot of emailing and texting. But I also have lots of Mothers of the Bride and Mothers of the Groom that would much rather talk things over on the phone or meet! And that’s great too. I always tell couples the best way for them to communicate is the way we will work. If your planner has office hours, that’s ok too!
