Who Is Victoria?

August 1, 2016

I want to welcome you to the Blog at Victoria Ann Events! We have so many fun topics to discuss and promise fresh and fun content. But I thought first I need to introduce myself to you.

In a nutshell I am a fun, entergetic, full of positivity, and loving. But as I write and think what would you really want to know about me? If you’re a bride you probably want to know how can I help you? If your a fellow planner you might want to know can we exchange business ideas (of course we can!)

So lets first go back the beginning! And I mean wayyyy back, to the little girl who was born to Wendy and Ron in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  This is where my love affair with “party planning” started.  My mother is who nurtured my love for events. She loved any excuse to fill our house up with people, food, and flowers (I mean my birthday parties small bud vases were filled around the house with flowers and we were having  a BBQ). My mom would spend hours getting ready even for the smallest spegeti nights, pulling out all her special pasta dishes specifically for serving pasta, the perfect bread basket, all that jazz! Her favorite line was “Presentation is Everything!” She used to tell me, “I don’t care if we are eating take-out, I want people to come over and enjoy the time they spend here.” Setting up was my favorite part and she always gave me freedom to do my own decor! All of this you would never know my mother was actually suffering from Breast cancer, her joy in life was parties! She passed that love on to me, and although she is no longer with us, I know she smiles everytime I have a dinner party and I pull out all of her old serving dishes, or eveytime I have a new client and I’m putting together one of our VAE client welcome baskets! (she taught me that too)

So I say all of that to say this! the ANN in Victoria Ann Events is not my middle name. (which everyone thinks) It’s actually my moms middle name.  I know if she were still here she would for sure be my business partner and our couples would adore her!

My event planning journey, as I like to call it, started in college. I was given the office of being the social chair of my sorority. No stress, just had to make sure our Formal was the best one yet for the graduating seniors! But it all worked out and I gave them exactly what they wanted a beach party formal! Looking back I have no idea how I convinced the hotel to let us have the event on their property and to put up a tent! and a dance floor that you could hardly see because by the end of the night all of the sand was over it.  I had to convince one of my guy friends who had a SUV to take me to Home Depot to rent a generator for the DJ and the Lighting! I mean it was nuts, but  I did it, and to tell you the truth I’m glad I did because that was my first experience making a clients dreams come true! Fast forward to my love affair with weddings! I was given the opportunity to work at the Four Seasons Miami in the catering department and I still remember my first wedding. It was magical, I actually cried, for that one and everyone after (it was a running joke in the hotel). I learned so much from everyone around me and the way we did wedding so seamlessly I know it was the best training of my career.

During that time I met my husband, and after a whirlwind romance (only 8 months) he proposed, and a year and a half later we were married at the Four Seasons, and a year after that we picked up and moved across the country to sunny California! We now live in Los Angeles. Finally convinced my husband to get me a puppy (my little baby McCoy who we adopted from an AMAZING WOMAN Nikki from Road Dogs!) And launched Victoria Ann Events! It has been an amazing journey and I have been blessed to work on some amazing events and weddings the past year. You will get a sneak peek into these wedding and parties in the blog and we will also have some fun too! I love to have fun! Maybe that’s why I do what I do?

BEHIND THE Wedding

MEET Victoria

Growing up, my mother had a dinner party for just about everything. She would make name cards, put out her best china, let me help her pick flowers, and always cook something spectacular. She taught me, “Presentation is everything.” Long-story-short, the attention to detail, organization and joy that give me my knack for event-planning are in my blood (because truly, I got it from my Mama). My whole life I’ve had a passion for all the elements that make events experiences. Beyond that, I’ve always been told that I throw a really effing fun party, so I decided to leave my career in hospitality and pursue event-planning for real.

What I’m told draws many of my clients to me is my eye for the details, understanding of who they are, and calm attitude even when things get crazy. What keeps me so fulfilled is my relationships with my clients themselves. Nothing makes me happier than working with a couple to make a vision come to life and genuinely having fun all along the way.

Thanks for learning a little bit about me; I look forward to learning a little bit about you!
