Wedding Flowers: James Hartman Floral Designer

February 14, 2017

Floral Design is probably one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process.  I am obsessed with flowers, and if I wasn’t planning weddings, I would want to be James Hartman of The Crimson Petal Floral Designs, apprentice.  I have worked with James on quite a few projects and Weddings and he is nothing short of perfection.  He and his team will give you their whole heart in working on your wedding. That is why he aligns so perfectly with our weddings and level of service.  Not to mention the wedding flowers that come out of his studio are impeccable!

In honor of the month of Love, and because I know a lot of you are probably going to get flowers, we decided to sit James down, which is hard to do. Then asked him all the floral questions all of our Brides want to know. We asked him everything from how did he become a floral designer, to what is his favorite flower to work with is! We have all the inside details.

Today we are going to talk about James, but in the next few blog posts we are going to give you the ins- and outs of floral design for your wedding day. What he had to say is so good, you’re going to love it!

5 Questions with James Hartman:

  1. 1. How did you get into floral Design?

I was actually studying landscape architecture and had the summer off. I wanted to find a job at a farm, and after a chance encounter helping some people out, I found out they had a farm.  It ended up being a flower farm and that’s where my floral design love affair started.

  1. 2. What is your favorite part of the floral design process?

All the new varieties of flowers every year. Things are always changing; the flower is bigger or smaller or has or has lost its fragrance. The flower is  a new color, or longer lasting. Always a new medium to work with. That’s my favorite part you never know what the year is going to hold.

  1. 3.Who is your ideal client?

Someone who appreciates flowers and design, and someone who knows the importance of living with nature in their lives.

  1. 4. What is your favorite flower?

Roses and Sweet Peas

  1. 5. What is the most popular question all brides ask?

When are peonies available! LOL

BEHIND THE Wedding

MEET Victoria

Growing up, my mother had a dinner party for just about everything. She would make name cards, put out her best china, let me help her pick flowers, and always cook something spectacular. She taught me, “Presentation is everything.” Long-story-short, the attention to detail, organization and joy that give me my knack for event-planning are in my blood (because truly, I got it from my Mama). My whole life I’ve had a passion for all the elements that make events experiences. Beyond that, I’ve always been told that I throw a really effing fun party, so I decided to leave my career in hospitality and pursue event-planning for real.

What I’m told draws many of my clients to me is my eye for the details, understanding of who they are, and calm attitude even when things get crazy. What keeps me so fulfilled is my relationships with my clients themselves. Nothing makes me happier than working with a couple to make a vision come to life and genuinely having fun all along the way.

Thanks for learning a little bit about me; I look forward to learning a little bit about you!
